A recent change in legislation means that it is now the law to have a valid NCT certificate with any car over 4 years old or 5 penalty points may be given to the driver. The government has initiated a dedicated website www.penaltypoints.ie to help inform the public of the changes to the penalty points system. It lists the 31 new offences as well as the 4 existing ones.
