Q.What is the Service Interval on my car?
A. If you have purchased a new car, we generally advise our customers to bring that car back to the dealership on 1,500 kms for their first service. We do this to inspect the car and ensure that is in perfect running order.
Additionally, we advise that the customer return on 10,000 mls/15,000 kms and 20,000 mls/30,000 kms and thereafter, every 10,000 mls. Our experience tells us that cars which are regularly serviced are less likely to experience early tyre wear, have better fuel efficiency and experience less wear and tear on the engine. Furthermore, the car undergoes a full diagnostic check (using the latest technology) to ensure the continued smooth running of the vehicle.
Q. When should I get my timing belt changed?
First of all, not every car has a timing belt. The best thing to do is to drop me a line stating your make, model, year and mileage and I will advise and quote on replacement time and fitting cost for a timing belt.
Q. I do not do much mileage so when should I get a Service?
For people that don’t reach the manufacturer’s suggested service interval (usually 15,000kms or 10,000 mls) in one year, it is generally accepted that they should service their cars at least once a year. Reaching a certain mileage is not the only thing that will give rise to a service and factors such as evaporation, wear & tear, degradation of pipes and rubber fittings will all occur during a cars lifetime independent of mileage done.
Q. When should I change my air and fuel filter?
In general, we advise doing this as part of a major service which we suggest should be every second service (approx every 30,000kms). In between it should be sufficient to just get the oil and oil filter changed with every minor service (every 16,000kms).
